Nisha shares her home with Toby, a rescued brindle Mountain Cur who joined her family in Colorado Springs, and Raisin, a black Lab service dog from Monkey Tail Ranch in Hollister.

She grew up with rescued dogs and cats and has a passion for helping animals in need. In fact, she never had a non-rescued animal until she got Raisin, her service dog, in 2024. She joined the POMDR staff in April 2026.

Before joining POMDR, Nisha worked at Monkey Tail Ranch, training service dogs and therapy dogs for various facilities such as schools and courtrooms. She also led group training and helped with individual training.

Nisha holds Associate's degrees in Psychology and Creative Writing from Monterey Peninsula College. She is currently working on attaining her CPDT-KSA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge and Skills Assessed) and hopes to finish it by the end of the year. In the fall, she will begin studies at Arizona State University (online) for her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and will start their accelerated Master's program in Psychology with a focus on research.
