Hear From Some of Our Former Employees

“I worked at POMDR in a variety of roles for almost five years from Clinic Manager to Kennel Attendant to Operations Manager to Behavior and Enrichment Manager. I loved working with our dedicated staff and volunteers who not only have a passion for saving senior dogs, but also working with senior people and helping them! It was a wonderful work environment of passionate, intelligent and efficient people all working to bring more good into people and dogs’ lives. It was amazing to be part of such a great mission and special community of people and I will continue volunteering for POMDR forever!”
Cameron D., Behavior and Enrichment Manager (and other roles) May 2020 - August 2024
“I was a veterinarian at POMDR for three years. We did intake exams, lab work and other diagnostics, performed treatments and procedures in order to restore/improve the health of the dogs in our program. The ultimate goal was to get them adopted. I’ve been a veterinarian for almost 30 years and this has been my most rewarding job I’ve ever had! The POMDR team is a wonderful, supportive group of people and I felt appreciated and respected during my entire time there. We did so much good work while I was there. I would have stayed except it was time for me to go back to Idaho and retire. I miss being a part of this wonderful organization but feel satisfied about what an amazing difference we made in the lives of so many pets and their guardians while I was there.”
Dr. Kelley M., Veterinarian July 2021 - April 2024
“After volunteering with POMDR for about a year, I was hired on as the Helping Paw Coordinator and I held that role for almost three years. I LOVED everything about working at POMDR - from working with our extremely passionate staff, lovely members of the community and of course, our incredibly dedicated group of volunteers. It was a sublime feeling to work so closely with a group of like-minded people and to be able to help so many senior dogs and humans. I will forever be grateful to be apart of something so wonderful!”
Zoila M, March 2022 - May 2024
“I only had the pleasure of working at POMDR for one year as their first Marketing and Communications Manager. I fell deeply in love with the huge network of volunteers who are willing to help out wherever they are needed and always support and often spoil the staff with treats and encouragement. I loved my team members who give their all to rescue senior dogs and don’t shy away from going the extra mile to save one more dog. But the greatest blessing was meeting so many amazing senior dogs. They have my heart! If my husband's work hadn’t taken us all the way to Asia, I would still be in the backyard, filming senior pups for you! At least, I still get to see all their sweet faces in my volunteer work from afar. Thank you for everything, POMDR!”
Kristina G., Marketing and Communications Manager April 2023 - April 2024
“I was POMDR's volunteer coordinator before I returned to school to earn my teaching credential. The connections I formed at POMDR (both human and canine!) enriched my life in so many ways. My former colleagues remain my close friends, and I have stayed connected to many of the incredible volunteers, whose ranks I have proudly joined as a POMDR “alum”!”
Ellie P., Volunteer Coordinator January 2021 - March 2022
“I will always cherish my years as the Adoptions Coordinator at POMDR. The community POMDR has created is unsurpassed and the mission gave each day purpose. I knew I was lucky when starting the position that I would get to help dogs, but I didn’t realize the human impact my work would have, and in turn their influence on me. Nothing fills the heart like working with a passionate team, getting to know a precious dog, vetting a worthy potential adoptive family, and making a huge difference in all their lives. I will forever be involved with POMDR, assisting where I can and feeling part of something wonderful.”
Bryan V., Adoptions Coordinator May 2017 - July 2021
“I worked as the Volunteer Coordinator for POMDR for 2 years. I absolutely loved the mission and seeing the impact we had on both the people and dogs we helped. The dedicated staff and volunteers have such a contagious passion for helping the dogs, it was so rewarding to be a part of. It was immensely fulfilling and impactful work that I was honored to have participated in. I really enjoyed onboarding volunteers and matching foster dogs to foster homes and I was lucky enough to be one of the first few faces the dogs saw right when they came into the program. I moved out of the area during Covid but I still actively support and follow POMDRs work from afar and volunteer at a local senior dog rescue in my new neighborhood.”
