Aged to Perfection - $25 Adoption Fee -Meet the one and only, Mighty Joe! This lovable lad is the definition of a perfect companion when in the right home. Whether you're heading out for a hike, spending the day at the beach, or curling up with a good book, Joe is happily along for the ride- or the nap. He's wonderfully chill when he wants to be but loves the active life as well. He's the best of both worlds!
Joe is a social little guy with a big heart. He greets everyone he meets with an enthusiastic, lightning-fast tail wag. While Joe loves to make new friends, Joe has his quirks that his adoptive home will need to learn to work with.
He has nipped in a few of his foster homes. Typically when putting on his hardness or being touched when he isn't ready for it. We did xrays to see if he was experiencing pain and found out he has arthritis in both shoulders but very severe in his right shoulder. We also discovered that he had a ballistic pellet (bebe?shrapel?) lodged in his left femur. This doesn't seem to be causing any pain, but it does let us know this pup has been through some rough times. He is now on anti inflammatory medication and pain killers and he is doing much better. Because he has nipped and drawn some blood, we need to be extra careful about his next placement.
He can be reactive to other dogs when out on leash, but is getting much better with training. He can get along with mellow dogs (he usually likes smaller dogs), but he'd most likely thrive as the only pet in the house. Because of his need for ongoing behavior support, Mighty Joe's adoption will come with a $1,000 training stipend to help with getting him started on the right paw working with a private trainer who can assist with behavior support as he transitions to his forever home.
Darling Joe joined us from the Bradshaw Animal Shelter when they reached out seeking placement with a senior focused rescue that could help with his medical needs. He came to us heart-worm positive. He has been through the heart-worm treatment and now has a clean bill of health.
