Meet Tugboat - The Sun-Loving Sweetheart with a Tiny Voice and a Big Heart. Tugboat might just be the gentlest soul you'll ever meet. With his adorable little bark (used only when absolutely necessary), his expressive eyes, and a soft spot for sunshine, Tugboat is ready to write his second act with you.
This special pup came to us in rough shape after being hit by a car, but thanks to the team at Hitchcock Road Animal Services and the ongoing love from our Monterey vet clinic, Tugboat is making great strides - he's getting stronger, and proving that nothing can dim his light. As part of his healing journey, tugboat will need to have one of his hind legs amputated. It has regained mobility since the accident, and our wonderful vet staff is confident he will thrive as a tripod! His surgery is scheduled for sometime in April.
Tugboat is now looking for a forever home that will continue to be patient, supportive, and full of snuggles as he continues his rehab journey. While stairs aren't his favorite (a home with a stair-free main living space would be perfect!), he's loving his mix of short walks and rides in his doggy stroller as he builds back strength in his legs.
Tugboat soaks up affection, lives for cuddle sessions, and will happily lie beside you in a sunny patch of the house while you read, work, or relax. He's also a bit of a foodie -- very food-motivated, not the least bit picky, and always eager for treats! He's starting to show interest in toys too, and we're excited to see his playful side blossom. Tugboat has excellent potty manners, a mellow vibe, and a heart full of gratitude.
Despite everything he's been through, Tugboat hasn't lost his spark. He has so much love to give and will bring endless joy to the lucky home that welcomes him. If you're ready to give this resilient, sunshine-loving snugglebug the loving home he deserves, apply to meet Tugboat today. His second chance is already off to a beautiful start -- and he'd love nothing more than to share it with you.
