Special Needs -- We don't want to sound cheesy, but Grilled Cheese is bound to melt right into your heart! This gentle boy is a real sweetheart. He loves to cuddle and be with his people. He doesn't mind other pups, but given his mellow nature, he'd prefer to avoid being around dogs with too much energy. We aren't sure how Grilled Cheese lost his eye, but with his permanent wink, he's sure to charm you every day!

Grilled Cheese came to us emaciated and extremely ill. Our vet team and his foster parents have nursed him back to health, but we discovered that he has a very serious heart issue. Grilled Cheese needs a pacemaker to survive! We are in the process of raising funds and getting Grilled Cheese to UC Davis for a very tricky pacemaker surgery. Without this intervention, his heart could stop at any moment. With the intervention, he can live a normal life span.

Recovery after the pacemaker is going to be strict crate rest for 4 weeks. If you're interested in adoption, you would either need to be capable of continuing his post-op care or wait until he is medically more stable and ready to move to his forever home.
