Sparrow must have interesting stories to tell given that he is 17 long years old. His missing eye poses so many questions! Has this little pirate seen the seven seas? What seafaring voyages has he endured?
What we do know is that he was definitely a nice pirate in his past life. Sparrow is a mellow old man and while he might be a little hard of hearing he can pick up some sounds. Since his vision and hearing are limited, he will take some time to adjust to his surroundings and will need someone who can guide him through that adjustment period. Once Sparrow trusts you, he forms a strong bond and he rewards you with kisses, wags, and wiggles. His foster family thinks that Sparrow's independent personality is one of his most endearing traits. Sparrow is a good boy with both dogs and cats! He's calm and quiet. He has a special affinity towards men but is good with all people, giving gentle licks on the hand once he knows you.
Sparrow likes riding in the car, and enjoys his walks, when he's in the mood for one. He does not pull or tug on the leash. He has bouts of energy in the evening where he likes to play with a squeaky toy and will occasionally place his head in your lap for ear scratching, which he likes a lot. He has never turned down a treat, and his particular favorites are peanut butter and strawberries!
Being blind and deaf, he is a very special and courageous dog that needs a quiet one level home, with an enclosed yard, and ideally a male around who will give him attention. Sparrow would be thrilled to find a special, patient adopter to make him feel comfortable, understood and loved.
