Kobe is a sweet older gentleman who is ready for a forever home where he can peacefully spend the rest of his life. Despite being 15 years old, he is still mobile, and really loves to be outside doing sniffs and investigations around the yard. He seems to enjoy the company of other dogs and is very respectful of his foster siblings - including a cat and goats.
He is not a snuggle bug, but loves to explore and be by your side. He has a genuine interest in the world around him. He settled in well with his foster but was tentative toward them at first. He is happy to be by himself for long stretches of time but does need access outside during that time. He is quiet and calm in the home.
He's exceptionally finicky eater and sometimes need basic foods presented for him to eat. In the car, he stands most of the time as he is interested to look out the window. We found it is best to crate him in the car. He sleeps a lot, but when awake he enjoys following his people or wandering around exploring. He trots some when it is meal time. He can be happy with a comfortable place, not demanding anything and just being sweet to everyone.
His ideal adopter is around a lot and has a quiet home. While he enjoys the activity of the other dogs, he doesn't interact directly with them. Fewer to no stairs would be better due to his very poor vision. That adopter would need to be patient with Kobe. He eats slowly and very selectively and often moves slowly. He wants to be with you, but doesn't want to be overly cuddled.
Kobe was surrendered to San Jose Animal Care and Services to be put down, but the shelter thought he had more life to live and we agree! He is a happy, sweet boy! He is ready to share that side with someone. Could it be you?
