Laya is a beautiful, intelligent Husky. She is a bouncy, energetic dog who has lots of potential to be excellent once she gets some training under her belt. She lived with other dogs in her previous home and passed her evaluation with another dog at the shelter, but she definitely needs an adopter who is willing to help her with meeting other dogs, as she can be somewhat vocal and lunges on leash. So far, it seems best if she goes to a home as the only dog.
Laya is still a puppy and needs a confident leader who will work on her training and help her be a great adult dog. She wants to chase birds, cats, squirrels and deer. Because she has a high prey drive, she needs someone able to keep her on leash at all times outside and be able to hold firm when she pulls.
This pup is showing separation anxiety and will whine or even bark when nervous or excited. If she has a devoted person who can give her plenty of exercise, stimulation, affection and further her training, that person will be rewarded with a wonderful dog.
Laya ended up at Salinas Animal Services after being picked up as a stray with several other Huskies. Sadly, their owner was contacted but did not reclaim any of them, leaving Laya in need of a new family.
