What's not to love about a charming Dachshund? Blitzen is a friendly and social little guy. One of Blitzen's favorite pastimes is hanging out with other dogs. He's incredibly social, has excellent dog manners, and has always enjoyed making new four-legged friends. Whether it's a neighborhood stroll or hanging out with a canine companion, he's happiest when he has another dog around who speaks his language.
Like many Dachshunds, Blitzen also comes with a big personality packed into a little sausage-shaped body. He has significant resource guarding behaviors and has a bite history related to those issues. Because of this, he is looking for a very experienced Dachshund home -- someone who understands the breed, can recognize his boundaries, and is committed to managing his environment so he can be successful. He isn't a dog for first-time owners, but in the right home with knowledgeable guardians, Blitzen has tons of love and companionship to offer.
Blitzen enjoys being active but has also been quite the little escape artist in his day, so secure fencing and attentive supervision are essential. He prefers having his people nearby and would love a home where someone is around much of the time. Car rides aren't really his favorite, so he's happiest enjoying the comforts of home. He is also looking for an adults-only home who understands and respects his boundaries.
Blitzen joined POMDR after his guardian sadly fell ill and was no longer able to meet his needs.
