Corky is laid-back, quiet and pleasant to be around, yet still has a surprising amount of energy for an older fellow. He likes attention and allows handling by strangers. If he's nervous or in a new area, he may pace back and forth until he's comfortable, then he'll settle in and relax.
Corky is friendly to cats and gets along well with other dogs. He walks nicely on a leash and frequently stops to smell the flowers along the way. He also enjoys car rides, but needs to be restrained, or he'll wander around the car while you're driving.
When left home alone, Corky prefers a soft spot to recline and a view of the outside - he's not a fan of crates. His vision has diminished but he can still detect movement. He's easy-going and adaptable to the situation and would do well in a home with dogs and/or cats or by himself.
Corky appreciates having a doggie door, because sometimes he needs to go in the middle of the night, as expected of a man his age. He's mostly deaf and can hear only high voices or loud noises, which he will investigate. He enjoys chew toys - especially softer ones or those designated for puppies.
Corky came to us after his guardian went into assisted living.
