Alma is a very sweet fluffy dog who is dealing with broncho-interstitial pulmonary disease that causes her to have fits of coughing and wheezing. She likes being held and getting the most gentle pets - but is not affectionate or attention seeking. She is indifferent towards other dogs and would likely be the same around cats. Alma is really searching for a quiet lap to lay on where she can get the love she deserves.
Alma does not go on walks. She is blind and deaf and often oblivious to her surroundings. She flinches when touched as she is not sure what is happening. She will eat or drink from a bowl or hand if food or water is presented. Currently, she is sleeping close to 20 hours of the day. She seems to use pee pads fine and will go if taken outside. She is ok in the car.
She needs regular Poodle grooming. Her energy level is essentially non existent. When moving, she is not sure where she is going and can bump into things or other animals. Alma needs a safe, understanding home that is willing to give her the care that she needs - helping her go about a daily routine.
Alma came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Shelter.
